| bilateral letter scale | At this bilateral letter scale no name or mark is present. The scale originated from the USA. The lower chart of 0 up to ½ ounce has a stripe of measure per sixteenth ounce. The upper chart goes from ½ up to 8 ounces. This chart is subdivided per half ounce. The scale is made of tin with a brass colored top layer. A lot of cut outs give the plate an ornamental pattern. This is further accentuated by a number of nice relief lines. By shifting away a small cover plate it is easy to take out and replace the main axis. Although the base has a strengthening relief, it is not sufficiently stiff and resistant to deformations. The standard is made strong enough by the relief pressing. Below some more pictures of this bilateral letter scale. | back of the scale |
