| Prior letter scale | This letter scale has only the three weight limits for sending letters on its scale: 20, 50, and 100 grams. The colored bands even indicate the allowed weight exceedance. This postal scale was supplied by Prior Weegtechniek from Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands. This Prior scale is a simplified version of the previously displayed letter scale, see the Hartner. As stated there this design can be found under the brandnames: Bizerba, Hartner, Maul, Pitney Bowes and as presented here Prior. It is an accurate letter scale with a fixed foot and two adjustable feet, and a spirit-level to establish a level scale. At the left side of the housing is an adjusting screw to put the pointer to zero. A red rotating knob at the bottom enables securing the mechanism during transport. Hidden centrally under the top plate is a chamber for lead pellets, this is used for fine tuning the letter scale at the factory. The adjusting foot at the right is not an original one. | back of the scale |
