| letter scale on a high wooden pedestal | This letter scale is an old model. I don't know who the maker is. This scale probably comes from Germany. I did find the weighing mechanism on a lower wooden base in a Philipp Jakob Maul catalogue from around 1900. The same weighing mechanism is on a cast iron base in a Hartner catalogue from 1912. In the 1908 Kistler catalogue a letter scale is depicted with the same mechanism mounted on a cast iron tripod. | back of the letter scale |
