| WMW letter scale, East Germany | This letter scale with a WMW logo comes from the former East Germany. WMW is the abbreviation for WerkzeugMaschinen und Werkzeuge. That was one of the many VVBs in full: Vereinigung Volkseigener Betriebe in East Germany. It is a scale with cleverly folded parts, see the photos. This specimen is painted red. Most WMW scales are painted green in a color shade that is often used in mechanical engineering, see the photo at the bottom left of this page. The scale has a double weighing range with the foldable counterweight, namely one hundred grams and five hundred grams. The 100 grams scale has a stripe of measure for every gram. On the 500 grams scale, a stripe of measure is given per five grams. The scale is 26 centimeters high, the diameter of the letter plate is 12 cm. The scale base measures 16 x 11 cm. | back of the letter scale |
